Ka Piko – Hawaiian Printmakers

This exhibition features a group of eight printmakers from Hawaii. Though “piko” in Hawaiian means belly button or navel, it also has many other connotations. It can refer to the centre/balance or the creative source –implying  that Hawaii is the creative source or centre of the Pacific… a gathering place, a mix of cultures from many other island nations. This is reflected in the printmakers’  imagery and approach to art.
